The alarmingly high rates of illegal prostitution in the United States has led to discussion of legalizing prostitution in America. While advocates for prostitution legalization believe that legalizing prostitution would be beneficial, the legalization of prostitution would negatively affect the United States in substantial ways. Other country's experiences with prostitution legalization validates the evident downfalls that outweigh any positive benefits to legalizing prostitution. The legalization of prostitution should not be established in the United States because it would increase sexually transmitted diseases, increase human sex trafficking, expand the corrupt sex industry, increase underage child prostitution, and increase physical and mental abuse.
